PAIN SYSTEM - GAROUN INVESTMENT BANK STATION

Racers gathered this past Sunday in Placid for the season's second exhibition event, the Destruction Derby. While combat during the normal season is carefully calculated and discussed from a strategic sense, the main premise at this event was to cause as much damage as possible and remain the last pilot with their ship intact in the arena.

The frigate competition, the first of three rounds, was marked with bloody fanfare as six competitors duked it out in a variety of vessels. The Punisher class stood out as the clear victor, destroying three of the six competitors as Sythra Coratana trounced the competition and sent Executioner pilot Quintrala fleeing for her life.

Sythra's victory didn't last long as the Interceptor round began, her Crusader dispatched with extreme prejudice almost immediately upon entering the event. A much more graceful affair, interceptors danced and bobbed wildly as they tried to secure a position of advantage over one another as the competitors slowly dwindled down to just one. Mostly preoccupied with Jude Kopenhagen for most of the event, the young Civire pilot Rawr Cristina swooped in and finished off the weakened remnants of the rest of the pack to secure the win.

The curse of victory extended to Ms. Cristina as the start of the Assault Frigate round saw both her and Ms. Coratana met their end early on. The final remaining pilots, Maru Sha and Irongut, found themselves locked in a bitter fight for the win as the Gallente piloted his Ishkur with drones and railguns while Maru piloted a Jaguar fitted for close range combat. Dispatching his drones, Sha moved in and finally broke Irongut for the final victory of the night.
